Custom Cell Phone Covers

There are many sites that sell customized accessories for your electronics, such as covers for mobile phones. But they usually cost a lot, since they are personalized according to your desires, and don't come with that feeling that you have only after creating a product by yourself. My point is that if you really want a customized cover for your iPhone, Windows or Android smartphone, you should do it by yourself. After reading several articles on the Internet, I believe I know how to teach you to do this in just a few easy steps.

If you are a girl, most likely you know how to use bodkins in order to create various clothes and clothing accessories. The same bodkins can be used for developing your very own mobile phone cover. If you are also interested in painting and have a lot of leather, vinyl or other fabrics that you believe they could be easily transformed into a phone cover, all you need in addition is just a little bit of imagination, a needle to sew those fabrics, some thread and scissors.

You have to take into consideration the shape and size of your mobile phone and after you have gathered all your sewing supplies, you have to start measuring the fabric with your phone. The cover has to be a little bit bigger than the phone itself. Fabrics can be different; leather is not the same thing with silk, so you need to take into account also that when folded, the leather will behave differently than the silk, for example. So the first thing you have to do is to fold the fabric in half and see how this goes. Pin the fabric in place to keep it still (not moving). Place your mobile phone on the fabric and use a piece of chalk or a pen in order to trace the exact lines where you would like to cut that fabric.

By using the scissors, you will cut the fabric, while not forgetting of adding an extra inch to all sides, that will accommodate for the seams, hem and thickness of your phone. After this, with right sides together, you need to sew 3 sides of the cover, leaving one for the mobile phone to be inserted in the cover. If we are talking about a rectangular mobile phone (aren't they all?), you will sew the 2 longer sides and one smaller side. Make sure to turn the opening over twice, to form a half inch hemline.

To be certain your cover will have a high-quality, attach a set of Velcro circles, to secure the opening and also a sturdy loop of ribbon to one side of the opening. Now turn the case right side out and get ready to draw all the attention with your new accessory.
